Obituary

Sonja J. Moline, 88, of Cheswick and more recently The Haven at North Hills, died peacefully on August 19, joining her devoted husband, Richard, in heaven only three weeks after his passing.

Sonja was born in Pittsburgh on April 30,1938, the daughter of Sverre and Hjordis Pettersen. She and Rich built a rich life that emphasized family, friends, hard work, travel, and adventure over their 68 years of marriage. Sonja was known for her hearty laugh, her elegant and stylish fashion, her mastery of crossword puzzles, and all things grammar, and her compassion and dedication to her family. Her Christmas lasagnas were a highlight of holidays together and are a tradition carried on by her sons. She became a skilled trap shooter and golfer in her senior years and she and Rich enjoyed many years of good times alongside friends at the Silver Dollar community in Odessa, Florida.

Survivors include three sons, Richard E. (Be), Thomas (Laurie), and Scott (Angeli); two grandsons, Michael (Jessica) and Joseph, one great-granddaughter (Maybelle), along with extended family who loved her very much. In addition to Rich, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph Pettersen and a sister, Mildred Thompson. In accordance with her wishes, a private family celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease research or Shriner's Children's.
