Obituary

Frank R Scopel, 76, of West Deer Township went to be with the Lord, unexpectedly, at 9am on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 after a lengthy stay at the VA Hospital in Oakland, due to complications of heart disease. Frank was the youngest of 4 children born to Frank and Martha(Seybert) Scopel and was born in Harrison Township on May 24, 1946. Frank served in the US Army for 3 years, until an accident cut his military career short, changing his status from Corporal to Disabled Veteran. He was a proud and dedicated son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He raised his 3 children independently and with unconditional love. He was the kind of person that we all should aspire to be. Frank loved fiercely and his family was always priority #1. He was caring and kind and had this amazing way of leaving those privileged enough to know him feeling lighter and happier. Frank was a member of the American Legion, Post 593, West Deer Township and Order of the Owls, Nest 1091, Russellton. Frank enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, watching golf on TV and shooting pool with his grandson. Frank is survived by his daughters, Tracy L (Jim) Watson of Upper Burrell Township, Nicole M (Sean) O'Rourke of West Alexander, Daughter-in-law/bonus daughter, Michelle Medina of West Deer Township. Grandchildren, Shauna (Riley Busch) Beatty, Derek (Katland) Wilson, Jacob (Jenna Alessio) Scopel, Angelos Scopel and Travis O'Rourke. Great-grandchildren Kaleb & Regan Wilson, Greyson Busch and Eliana Alessio. His siblings, Gloria (Mike) Gavula, Catherine Simonetti and Ed (Louise) Scopel. Nieces, Robin Nealer, Tammy(Mark) Fleck & Renee Harris. Nephews, Vince (Kim) Simonetti, Richie Simonetti and Eric (Audrey) Gavula. Loving companion, Nancy Martinez along with many great/great-great nieces and nephews. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Martha; Beloved son, Frank "Frankie" G Scopel; niece, Kimberly Myers; nephew, Charles Myers; Brother in law, Richard Simonetti and cousin Jerry Watterson. Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Adam Siemianowski Funeral Home, 179 Starr Road, Russellton, 15076. A blessing service will be conducted 10 am, Monday, in the funeral home. Frank will be laid to rest next to his son, Frankie, at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
