Casimira (Mary Ann) Kovalchick, 83, of West Deer Twp., passed away, October 12, 2014, at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital. She was born October 10, 1931 in Ford City to the late Joseph and Salameja (Platek) Nycz. Mrs. Kovalchick was a 1948 graduate of West Deer High School who enjoyed cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, traveling to casinos, bingo, and the Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins. Mary Ann loved spending time and entertaining her family especially during the Holidays. She is survived by her children, Gregory Kovalchick of West Deer Twp., Andrew "AJ" (Beth) Kovalchick of Richland Twp., and Carolyn (Howard) Hoffman of the North Hills; three grandchildren, two step granddaughters, and ten step great grandchildren; brother, Edward Nycz. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Andrew J. Kovalchick in 2010; brothers, Walter and Frank Nycz; sisters, Sophioe Ewanish, Hedwig Pawloski, Leona Guzak, and Helen Pawloski. At the request of Mrs. Kovalchick services and burial will be private. Mary Ann will be laid to rest next to her husband Andrew at Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Twp.
