Barbara J. "Barb" Mierzejek, 91, of West Deer Township, passed away, June 16, 2023, at her residence. She was born on January 3, 1932 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Priscilla (Prothero) Bowers. Barb was a 1950 graduate of West Deer High School and has lived in the area all her life. She was very active in local politics and West Deer VFD #1. She was an avid reader, bird watcher and enjoyed travel and trips to Alaska. Barb was a well read, kind, generous mother, wife and friend. She was loved by all who met her. She is survived by her beloved children, Thomas L. Mierzejek of, West Deer Township, Marcia A. (William) Macdonald of, Lovettsville, Va, Jan M. Roth of, Brackenridge, Christopher M. (Beverly) Mierzejek of, Anchorage, AK; grand daughters, Emmelia Macdonald and Samantha (Cliff) Sheehan; great grandson, Gerald Sheehan. She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Leo Mierzejek and son, Steven Mierzejek. Funeral arrangements are private in the care of Adam Siemianowski Funeral Home, Starr Road, West Deer Township. Barb will be laid to rest next to her husband, Leo, at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
